Cooling optimisation
in the data centre

Data centres are the backbone of the digital world, and their energy efficiency is becoming ever more important with the growth of AI applications. In combination with specialised sensors, guardstack provides a precise “temperature view” of your data centre, so that cooling processes can be optimised and energy efficiency and performance increased.

Share of cooling
in electricity consumption

According to a study by the Borderstep Institute, German data centres consumed a hefty 17,900 GWh of electricity in 2022. This corresponds to 3.65% of the country’s total electricity consumption. The estimated share of electricity used for cooling was therefore over 5,000,000,000 kWh. Cooling can account for up to 30% of consumption.

Cooling optimisation
with guardstack

guardstack captures temperature data in real time and creates a “thermal map” of your data centre. Granular data capture enables optimised control of the installed cooling units, precisely where cooling is needed. With a precise thermal view of hot spots and targeted cooling, the overall target room temperature can be raised even in environments with high computing density, ultimately lowering cooling costs for the entire data centre.

Sensors for monitoring the environment

The complete solution offered in cooperation with sensor manufacturer ESERA enables precise monitoring of environmental conditions. With up to 30 sensors per gateway and up to five control cabinets with four sensors each, the system offers extensive sensor equipment that monitors not only temperature but also humidity, air quality, air pressure and optionally door contacts.

“Given that cooling can account for up to 30% of total electricity consumption in data centres, guardstack offers a smart way to lower these costs while minimising environmental impact.”

Automatic
detection of all devices

guardstack revolutionises data centre monitoring with an advanced solution that automatically detects all industry-standard components in existing data centres. The basic setup can therefore be completed within a few hours, and the monitoring solution is ready for use.

Quick and easy installation

The plug-and-play system is designed for simple and efficient assembly, with cabling matched to the customer’s individual control cabinets. This allows quick installation without special electrical training or special tools. The system also complies with EN 50600-2-3, a standard governing environmental conditions in data centres.
